Have you been driving, seen the new digital billboards and wondered if they are better than their printed counter part? Well, if this is the case, we have your answers! Read more to find out the pros and cons of both printed and digital billboard!
Digital Pros:
- There are no production costs, other than for the artwork design itself
- You can have multiple and even unlimited messages for the same price {four-week space rental rate}
- They look great at night!
- The rotating images get people’s attention while driving. {However, the images themselves offer no moving imagery – this is for driver safety!}
- In high-traffic areas, drivers will definitely see your ad as each 10-second looping display spot completes full rotation of ads.
Digital Cons:
- You share the board, so there is a probability your ad won’t always be seen unless the display is located in a high-traffic, surface-street setting near traffic lights.
- The rising and setting sun can cause glare so the display’s visual acuity and clarity may be significantly diminished; if not completely washed out.
- Digital displays offer no opportunity “over ride”, where advertisers sometimes receive additional days or weeks between their campaign ending and subsequent campaigns commencing.
- Display color options are limited – some project better than others.
Print Pros:
- Exclusivity:You get the space all to yourself & don’t have to share.
- Visibility issues are minimized due to static/hardcopy glare reduction properties in flex vinyl ad print material.
- Static displays can accommodate vertical and lateral ad copy extensions and other embellishments to create dramatic two-dimensional and three-dimensional effects. *Please note that extensions are charged separately and range from $25 up to $125 per square foot for labor and additional support materials.
- Static displays often receive, at minimum, a few consecutive calendar days of additional display time – sometimes weeks – between the time it takes the billboard company to actuate a new campaign.
- Vinyl ad copy material – static flex vinyl – is ultra-durable and can be reused and re-posted on any like-size display. The billboard print material is easily stored folded and rolled to about the size of a king-size down comforter
Print Cons:
- Printing & Installation costs are incurred (between $550 – $1000 per 14×48 static display)
- Static copy is not under warranty against install or take-down damage or in the event of vandalism.
- If billboard print material is not retrieved from the outdoor company within about 45 days from an ad campaign’s conclusion, the outdoor companies may discard or “misplace” them.
- Billboard print material stored for too long may stick together and tear in places when being reinstalled.
So now that we have answered your questions you know who to call when you want to start your next outdoor campaign!
