Hold on there just a minute, this is January, not December. The season of giving is behind us, right? Not at all. January is a great time to think about how you want to share your resources and treasures in the coming year. Charitable sponsorships should be part of your yearly business plan. By planning ahead, you not only have the time to make a thoughtful selection but you also make sure that you get the most mileage possible from the PR and sponsorship opportunities.

We helped Discovery Point partner with Q100, McDonald’s and The Salvation Army in Coats 4 Kids in December. This past December the Discovery Point team collected 1,047 coats that will be distributed by The Salvation Army. Rock, Paper, Scissors even contributed by developing a logo for the Coats 4 Kids program that Q100 will use to brand this charitable drive every year. Discovery Point is looking forward to this being the first of many years that they will be partnering with The Salvation Army to collect new and slightly used children’s coats for the less fortunate.

Events like these are not uncommon in our mix of recommendations to customers who understand the great value and satisfaction of sharing with the community. We also partnered with the Gwinnett Braves, crafting a program that donated baseball tickets to the families of service men, The Salvation Army , Rainbow Village and others non-profits as guests of Discovery Point. We are planning on working with Q100 on programs with Children’s Healthcare and Atlanta Botanical Gardens in the future.

At Rock, Paper, Scissors we not only help our clients in their charitable endeavors, we also have long history of our own charitable projects. One of our biggest contributions over the last decade + was starting the Aurora Theatre, one of Metro Atlanta’s most outstanding professional theatres.

In 2012, RPS will once again be very involved with the 8th Annual Barefoot in the Park Fine Arts Festival. Last year we raised  $10,000 for scholarships that were awarded to students at Georgia Gwinnett College, The Hudgens Arts Center, The Shapiro Foundation, Aurora Theatre, and Gwinnett Ballet Company.

Take time this month to look for some opportunities to share your talents or your treasure with your favorite charitable organization. It’s a great way to start off the year. Happy New Year!
